Materials Accepted

  • Cans (aluminum, steel, and tin), empty and clean
  • Plastic Containers, empty and clean
  • Cartons (food and beverage cartons, including milk, juice, soup, broth, wine, etc.)
  • Newspapers, clean and dry
  • Paper (paper bags, mail, magazines, catalogs, telephone books, paper egg cartons), clean and dry
  • Cardboard (corrugated cardboard) clean and dry. Remove all packing material (no styrofoam). Flatten all cardboard to help save space.

Curbside Recycling Service

Midwest Area Refuse Solutions (MARS) offers a weekly curbside recycling service for paper, plastic, and cans.  Residential curbside recycling service is $8.50 per month.

Commercial recycling is also available. The frequency of commercial recycling collection and receptacle sizes will vary depending on your needs. Please call (402) 228-5211, and select Option 4 to inquire about commercial recycling.

Curbside Recycling Collection Schedule:

Curbside recycling is collected the same day as your scheduled garbage collection. Please place your recycling bin and waste cart at the curb in front of your home by 6:00 a.m. on your scheduled collection day. Please remember to place your waste cart and recycling bin in a manner that allows for at least 3 feet of clearance on all sides, to permit automated garbage collection. The collection of your garbage and recycling may occur at different times of the day.

Beatrice Recycling Collection Site

Beatrice Recycling Collection Site - 3rd & Ella Street

Beatrice residents may take their recyclables to the collection site at 3rd and Ella Street, located west of the City Auditorium. 

The recycling collection site has two (2) recycling trailers for mixed dry recyclables (plastics, cans, cartons, and papers), and two (2) roll-off containers for corrugated cardboard only (no styrofoam or packing materials). The recycling colleciton site is accessible 24 hours per day and under surveillance to discourage misuse.
 

The recycling collection site is for household recycling only. Businesses may set up a commercial recycling account with MARS, or self-haul to a recycling processor.
