Maintenance Worker - Water Department

The City of Beatrice is accepting applications for a full time Maintenance Worker in the Water Department.  Starting hourly rate is $19.47, plus benefits.  Hours of work are Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. 

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required. 
Must be eighteen (18) years of age.
Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain an insurable driving record.
Must have or be able to obtain a Class B CDL with air brake endorsement within six (6) months of hire. The City will provide training for a CDL if you do not currently have one.
Must have or be able to obtain a Class 4 Water License within twelve (12) months of hire.

Essential job functions:

Assist in maintaining, installing, and repairing water mains, wells, and pipes, involving the operation of trenching equipment and backhoes.
Assist in the construction, maintenance, and repair of the water distribution collection systems.
Perform general construction on water system:  cutting, fitting, and tapping water pipes; maintain/repair/install hydrants, valves, meters and other water system components.
Operate various types of light to heavy vehicles and equipment, such as jack hammer and boring equipment. Desirable knowledge of backhoe operation. 
Concrete replacement.
Will be on a rotation for after hour calls and respond to emergency situations as required.
Ability to work in all weather conditions.
