Gage County Victim Assistance Program

The Victim Assistance Program has been in existence since 1995.  It is supported by VOCA (Victims of Crime Act) federal grant funds, in-kind and cash match by the City of Beatrice and Gage County.  The daily operation of duties of the director includes but is not limited to direct contact either face-to-face or phone contact with victims, assistance with protection orders, criminal justice advocacy, follow-up contact, etc.  The director is also responsible for coordination with partnering agencies, grant writing, and quarterly reporting of financial and statistical reports required for VOCA funding.

The Victim Assistance Program was awarded additional funding from the Nebraska Crime Commission to hire 2-part time advocates from November 2015 through September 2016.  We were awarded funding to hire 1 full-time advocate beginning October 1, 2016.  The full-time advocate began working with the program on December 1, 2016.  The full-time advocate is an assistant to the director and is responsible for daily operations of the program including direct contact either face-to-face or phone contact with crime victims, assistance with protection orders, criminal justice advocacy, follow-up contact, and entering statistical data.

The Gage County Victim Assistance Program is available 24/7 to assist crime victims if called upon by the shift supervisor.
