What is Gage County Crime Stoppers?

Gage County Crime Stoppers is a non-profit organization operated by an all volunteer citizen board. The goal of Crime Stoppers is to combine the efforts of the police, citizens, and media in our community's fight against crime. Crime Stoppers encourages people with information about a crime to make ANONYMOUS telephone calls to law enforcement agencies, in exchange for a reward up to $1,000. All money utilized by Crime Stoppers is raised through fund raising projects and donations from service clubs and private donors. Information received through Gage County Crime Stoppers is forwarded to; the Gage County Sheriff's Office, the Beatrice Police Department, or the Wymore Police Department.

How Does Crime Stoppers Work?

Just follow these simple steps:

  • Call Gage County Crime Stoppers at (402) 228-4343 with your information about an unsolved crime.
  • You will be given a 7 digit identification number, keep it and DO NOT share it with anyone.
  • After 1 month, call Crime Stoppers between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. and give the Crime Stoppers Coordinator your 7 digit identification number to see if your tip qualifies for a reward.
  • If you are granted a reward, you will be given a specific Beatrice bank to go to and a specific person to contact at that bank.
  • Upon arrival to the bank and contacting the specified person, tell them you are there for a Crime Stoppers reward and provide them with your 7 digit identification number.
  • You will be given a check. The check will be made out to your 7 digit identification number. Endorse the back of the check with your 7 digit identification number.  To remain anonymous DO NOT endorse the check with your name.
  • Take the check to a teller and cash the check.

Information must lead to an arrest and/or conviction to be eligible for a reward.  If your information leads to an arrest and/or conviction, the Coordinator will advise the Board of Directors, who will then vote on the amount of the reward you will receive.

Crime Stoppers is an anonymous way for you to leave valuable information.  You will NOT be asked for your name, address, or phone number.  To ensure your anonymity the Crime Stoppers telephone line does NOT have caller identification, or call return capabilities.

If you have any questions about Crime Stoppers call or e-mail Investigator Erin Byrne at the Beatrice Police Department, (402) 223-4080, Ext 5242.
