Must be at least 21 years of
age and provide a copy of birth certificate.

Must be in good physical and
mental health, exams are required.

Must have a current Nebraska
Operator’s License

Must be a high school graduate
or equivalent and provide photocopy of diploma or certificate

Must be of good moral
character. An extensive background and credit investigation will
be conducted. A polygraph exam is required.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

Current salary for police
officers range from $14.82 to $20.17 per hour.

12-hour shifts, work 7-out-of-14
days, with every other weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) off.

Vacation time

1-5 years of service, 2
weeks

6-15 years, 3 weeks
-
16 years or more, 4 weeks
-
Maximum carryover of one
year's earnings
-
Overtime pay over 80 hours in a
two week period

Take overtime in the form of
money or compensatory (comp) time

Accumulate a maximum of 120
hours of comp time.

Holiday pay for time worked and
not worked

10 Holidays include: New Year’s
Day, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day,
Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving, Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas
Eve, and Christmas Day

Sick leave earned at the rate of
10 hours per month with a maximum accrual of 1440 hours
